The Wiener Werkstätte was a cooperative of artisans in Austria, establish in the early 1900s. It brought together architects, artists, and designers working in many different mediums and is regarded as a pioneer of modern design that influenced later styles like Bauhaus and Art Deco. Maria Likarz Strauss was one of the major textile designers of the Werkstätte. Her work consistently emphasized abstract, geometric forms and bright, saturated colors.
