Description

Cuddle up in this fabulous polyester blanket, featuring one of the Chazen favorites- Étretat by Eugène-Louis Boudin!

Boudin is an important transitional figure between the carefully observed naturalism of the Barbizon School and the brilliant light and fluid brushwork of Impressionism. Barbizon School painters are recognized as the first to paint outdoors, en plein air, a practice which Boudin continued throughout his career. The son of a mariner, Boudin grew up along the Normandy coast of France, which became the primary subject matter of his paintings. Boudin befriended young Claude Monet and persuaded him to become a landscape painter. Monet later paid tribute to Boudin’s early influence.

Eugène-Louis Boudin (French, 1824 – 1898), Étretat, 1891, oil on canvas, gift of Mrs. Frank P. Hixon, 70.24
